Food Fight

My Role: Project Manager, Lead Programmer

A turn-based artilery game, built with the Game Maker engine. Two players take turns targeting each other and hurl various food into the air. There are two food types: timed and explode on impact. The last one standing, is the winner of the food fight! (The video shows an alpha build of the game as some features could not be implemented due to time constraints)

Process:

Slides from the concept pitch that was given to the class. Ideas were voted on and the top ranked games moved into development. Students of those concepts were made Project Mangers and had full reign of their development team composition.

A follow-up presentation of our paper prototype user testing. At this point in time we had plans to include "Fog of War" gameplay into the final build, where players would have to go fishing for their opponents because the map would be covered. So, we based the prototype on the game, Battleship. Both games have a similar game mechanic, and we added in a trading card game element. The cards represented the various food attacks players had access to.
